Whoever You Are
03:34

I saw your face
through dirty windows on a subway train
the doors had closed
next stop, who can say?
and if I were to bet
this could be the closest we get
I might be wrong
but I haven't been so far
I love you whoever you are
I heard you speak
a caller on the radio
I've never felt so complete
or helpless, and out of control
and if I were to bet
this will be my greatest regret
it's just so far
from my planet to your star
I love you whoever you are
there is a place in hell for fools
who let these sacred opportunities
slip through
I felt your touch
I know it wasn't just a dream
I never get to sleep that much
with your ghost forever haunting me
and if I were to bet
this will be the closest we get
please prove me wrong
but you refuse to, so far
I love you whoever you are
I love you whoever you are
I love you whoever you are

Fairytales
03:32
|
|||
she wanted to be a dancer
and when the music played
she felt like she was flying
he took the lead with every right answer
and spun her life around
she never saw he was lying
oh, tell me another fairytale
'cause I have had enough of
all these dreams that don't end well
I've given all I had to give
and learned to live on
all these little fairytales
he flew her out to meet the producer
this opportunity doesn't come along
just every day
they tried and tried and lied to seduce her
she took the train home that same night
crying all the way
oh, tell me another fairytale
'cause I have had enough of
all these dreams that don't end well
I've given all I had to give
and tried to live on
all these little fairytales
spending half your life
doing the Tango
with fallen angels (crayon angles)
believing in miracles
and that all wishes can come true
how's that working out for you?
oh, tell me another fairytale
'cause I have had enough of
all these dreams that don't end well
I've given all I had to give
and learned to live on
all these little

Comedian
03:35
|
|||
you think you're some
kind of comedian
but no one's laughing except for you
it's not making sense
and it's always at our expense
you think it's funny because it's cruel
now what did we ever do
except dare depend on you
who only needs to hear you won
when you go to sleep at night
do you feel regretful
like I do?
when you go to turn out the lights
do you feel reflection
does it look like you?
this seething rage
never seems to turn the page
because the playbook's carved in Stone
a real father's son
got no love for anyone
you don't understand what you can't own
so there's no place for me
or the truth, or decency
now you lie in a bed you made, alone
when you go to sleep at night
do you feel regretful
like I do?
when you go to turn out the lights
do you feel reflection
does it look like you?

Never The Same
05:01
|
|||
once you went away
I was never the same
once you went away
I was never the same
why should I believe you now
my angel of deceit?
I'm trying hard to hold on now
an impossible conceit
I'll be in a better place
detached from this disgrace
once you went away
I was never the same
once you went away
there was nothing left to gain
why should I believe you now
my angel of deceit?
I'm trying hard to hold on now
an impossible conceit
I'll be in a better place
detached from this disgrace
and if I ever loved you
then I should know
that this is what it takes
to let you go
to let you go
to let you go
to let you go
why should I believe you now
my angel of deceit?
I'm trying hard to hold on now
an impossible conceit
I'll be in a better place
detached from this disgrace
once you went away
I was never the same

Win Me Back
04:51
|
|||
I've had my share of friends
at least in fair weather
and one by one, I've watched them fall
like dominoes
but you were always there for me
with just the perfect melody
stack after stack
track after track
the only ones
who ever won me back
I've had my share of pain
then I came back
for seconds
so full of regret
I couldn't have
another bite
but you were always there for me
safe in sweet harmony
stack after stack
track after track
the only ones
who ever won me back
I've had my share of days
where I wrote that last note
and left it where it's sure
to be found
but you were always there for me
to save me with your symphony
stack after stack
track after track
the only ones
who could ever win me back
